Louisville’s Sierra Nevada Corp playing for keeps in the space race.
Louisville-based Sierra Nevada Corporation Space System is one big step closer the launching the Dream Chaser, a seven-person space orbital vehicle. The company announced that they passed one of the most complex tests necessary to move project forward. It expects to launch the 40 foot ship into space by 2016.
Sierra Nevada is just one small part of Colorado’s impressive lead in US aerospace infrastructure. The University of Colorado Engineering Center and Centennial-based United Launce Alliance are just two of several private and public organizations dedicated to cementing Colorado’s place in the space race.
