Black Hawk up in Altus
The Paris Air Show brought more good news for the city of Altus, which learned it will be the site of a new Black Hawk academy.
Sikorsky Aerospace Services will open a training academy in Altus this fall to provide advanced flight and maintenance training.
State-of-the-art flight simulators will be awaiting helicopter operators to gain valuable flight time in a cost-effective method.
“This world-class facility will deliver comprehensive OEM (original equipment manufacturer) training for Black Hawk pilots, aircrew and maintainers worldwide. Our advanced programs are tailored to each customer’s specific operational requirements,” company President David Adler said. “The facility is solely focused on training, and is the first of its kind for U.S. government agencies and international militaries. The pilots and maintainers who graduate from the Sikorsky Training Academy will be ready to execute missions safely, confidently and effectively.”
Near Fort Sill, Altus provides access to several hundred square miles of operating space, certified landing areas, night vision routes and opportunities for live fire exercises.
