Flying high

Last week, we told you about the ongoing conversion of the former Brunswick Naval Air Base into a civilian airport. And today, there’s even more good news taking off from Brunswick, as Tempus Jets has announced plans to relocate its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul business to Brunswick Landing. The move is expected to create 50 new jobs by the end of next year.

Tempus officials said the company will hire 10 to 15 people in Brunswick by year’s end. In addition, if the firm’s growth continues at its current pace, a total of 200 jobs in avionics, airframe, mechanic and engineering jobs could ultimately land at the Brunswick facility.

Pending FAA approval, work could begin at the Tempus facility by the end of the month. The company has already begun moving tools and equipment to Brunswick from Virginia.
